Christopher Catesby “Kit” Harington has described his addiction struggles as pretty traumatic. In an interview with “The Sunday Times,” he revealed,

Things that have happened to me since Thrones ended, and that were happening during Thrones, were of a pretty traumatic nature and they did include alcohol.

Kit Harington issued a denial statement

When a Russian model, Olga Vlasova, released photos allegedly of Harington crashing out on a hotel bed, he issued a denial statement categorically saying “he’d never met the woman.”

He was offended by the allegations a great deal. Furthermore, he expressed,

You get to a place where you feel like you are a bad person, you feel like you are a shameful person. And you feel that there’s no way out, that’s just who you are. And getting sober is the process of going, ‘No, I can change.’ One of my favourite things I learnt recently is that the expression ‘a leopard doesn’t change its spots’ is completely false: that a leopard actually does change its spots. I just think that’s the most beautiful thing. It really helped. That was something I kind of clung to; the idea that I could make this huge fundamental change in who I was and how I went about my life.

One of the questions asked by Edwardes, did you feel suicidal, Harington responded,

I will give you an answer to that question: the answer is yes. Yes of course. I went through periods of real depression where I wanted to do all sorts of things. He tells me this in the hope that it will “maybe help someone, somewhere. But I definitely don’t want to be seen as a martyr or special. I’ve been through something, it’s my stuff. If it helps someone, that’s good.

Harington does not like to be titled as one of the world’s sexiest men

Harington does not want to be known as one of the world’s sexiest men. He said during an interview with “The Sunday Times”,

I have a problem with being referred to as incredibly sexy, or a hunk or anything, because it’s incredibly demeaning,” he says. “It’s demeaning for both women and men. It’s demeaning for anyone to be categorized by their appearance, no matter how that might sound when some people might say it’s what gets me work. Well, I disagree with that.

Instead, he wants people to remember him because of his acting skills, not due to his appearance on the screen. Harington added,

My acting. I would hope it would be something that I bring to screen that’s not just f***ing how I appear.

Parenthood made Harington changed for all the right reasons

Harington married to Game of Thrones co-star, Rose Leslie in June 2018 in Scotland and welcomed their first child, a boy, in February 2021.

Overall, Harington has enjoyed a phase of parenthood a lot but the first three months were slightly tough for him. He revealed,

Being a dad is f***ing … Like, honestly, my back is wrecked. I go to the gym quite a bit, but there’s something about having a child that is the most physically draining thing. My hat goes off to any single parent.

Any single parent, you’re a f***ing genius. I don’t know how you do it. Because it’s more exhausting than everything I did on Thrones.

Apart from this, Harington was also vocal about his personal experience as a father. He added,

Life is “wonderful” now with his growing family. I have a child and my relationship is brilliant … I’m a very, very happy, content, sober man.

Kit Harington’s future project

Kit Harington will play the role of a hopeless romantic person in the second season of Modern Love, a romantic comedy TV series.

The TV series will be premiered on August 13, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video.

Despite playing one of the most famous roles of ‘John Snow’ in ‘Game of Thrones’, popular TV series of all time, Kit Harington seems to be a genuine guy.

He has successfully dealt with addiction issues, and he dared to combat suicidal thoughts that could have certainly ruined his professional and personal life.

But, luckily, he came out victorious eventually with the support of his wife and friends during this challenging phase of his life.
